Writing and Record Keeping
Egyptians built boats out of papyrus which is a plant that grew a lot in Egypt.
They also used parts of this plant as writing materials. They would draw pictures and hieroglyphs on papyrus rolls. Some hieroglyphs were used to represent a god or pharaoh and others represented letters or sounds.
Egyptians kept a record of many things like how much grain they had, how much they sold, etc.
They used different symbols to represent different numbers.
